Renovation Considerations

What are the reasons we need to renovate?

There are many changes that can be made to a swimming pool to update it or even completely change the look. Due to the availability of new products and materials that weren’t available when the existing pool was constructed, most of these renovated pools look and function better than they did when they were new.

Renovation Projects Both Large and Small

Some pool owners desire dramatic overhauls such as tile & coping replacement, interior finish resurfacing, deck replacement, and/or adding a rock waterfall or even a spa to an existing pool—virtually anything is possible.

Other pool owners simply make small changes to their pool such as adding a computerized pool/spa control system, filtration equipment replacement, adding a heater, or replacing their automatic cleaning system.

Cosmetics

Many times a pool renovation can do wonders for the appearance and usefulness of your backyard. For example, many of the pools that are being built today have dark finishes, which really give the pools a beautifully rich lagoon look. This same look is desired by many existing pool owners, and therefore one of the most common types of renovations is to resurface the interior surface of the pool to a dark finish.

Finding the Right Contractor for the Job

Finding a dependable, experienced contractor is the key to a successful renovation. Ask a fellow pool owner whom they have used or ask your pool professional for recommendations for contractors that have done good work in your area. When obtaining estimates ask the following of the contractor:

  • What is your experience with this type of renovation project?
  • Do you have any completed renovation projects that I can see?
  • Can you get me a list of referrals?
  • How long is the warranty?
  • What is and is not covered under the warranty?
  • Can you provide me with a copy of your liability insurance?
  • Who will be supervising the job?
  • How long will the project take?
  • Who is responsible for cleaning up after the project is complete?
  • What if my landscaping or sprinkler system is damaged?
  • In addition, be sure to get specifics about the materials that will be used.

We feel that we measure up very well when considering the above questions. Please give us a call for a free, no-obligation estimate on renovating your swimming pool.

Testimonials

Pat Teagarden offered to put my pump back together and attach it to my motor.  Friendly counter sales. - Ed C.

Down home genuine feel.  Always feel like your staff is being honest and courteous with us.  I like the face that your service technicians are nice to my dogs and are able to do their service and I don’t have to lock the dogs up in the house for the day.  It may not sound like much but this is a really big deal to us. - Christine W.

Answered questions and gave honest advice.  Also, Saturday service since that is the only day I can be there. - Dennis W.

The fellow who came to the house and showed me how to work the filters, pumps, etc. and let me do it hands on so I knew what to do myself.  Very informative, friendly, and “pool knowledge” are not silly questions.  They understand not everyone knows about pools.  Very knowledgeable staff.  I felt every employee, either in the store or those that came out to the house knew exactly what they were talking about. - JoAnn O.

Timely response, honest answers, and friendly service.  A.W. was a great guy to work with . - Patricia B .

Matt Watson is friendly, caring , and prompt. - Gary & Carol P.

Genuine concern about my pool’s problem.  Taking initiative to solve the problem and having authority to do so.  Seems like a family unit more than a company only our for a profit. - Mary F.
