We are expecting the first freeze of the season this weekend—and pool owners should be prepared. The average first freeze occurring in the DFW area on November 22nd, so it appears that it will happen just about on schedule this year. A Report from the Pool Expo

The International Pool/Spa/Patio Expo was recently held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Pool Expo is the must-attend event for the pool, spa, and backyard industry to stay abreast of trends, market directions, and cutting-edge technology. It attracts close to 10,000 pool industry members (pool and spa builders, retailers, service technicians, manufacturers, and landscape architects) and includes educational seminars and over 400 manufacturers’ exhibits. It was an honor to be selected to present a seminar again at this year’s conference. Flooding Followed by Drought Followed by Flooding

This has been a crazy year thus far weather-wise. We started out with record rainfall in April & May, followed by an extremely dry period of over 40 straight days of no precipitation, which is the third longest dry stretch since records have been kept (1898). We then had the second wettest October ever (we received 9.82” and we average 4.22”), and we picked up most of that rainfall in under 10 days. Extremes such as this can cause problems as this area tends to have expansive soil—soil that expands when it gets wet and contracts when it gets dry. The Rain is Finally Coming!

This has been a very strange weather year. We have had record heat this month, but don’t forget about the record rainfall in April & May. In addition, we have had two very long stretches without any measurable rain—41 days (July 9th thru August 18th) and 32 days (September 20th thru today). But the weather forecasters are telling us that we will have heavy rain over the next few days. I am ready! Even though it has been unseasonably warm this week, pool water temperatures continue to fall due to the cooler nights that we have been having. Although quite a few people (especially kids) will swim thru October, for others the water will soon be simply too uncomfortable—as most of us prefer pool water temperatures in the mid-to-high 80s. With the first average freeze date for this area being just over one month away (November 22nd), pool water temperatures will definitely continue to decrease. This has been a very interesting spring and summer in regards to weather—we had record rainfall in April & May and since that time it has been extremely dry. Typically the leaves don’t begin falling until the cold weather arrives in November, but this recent dry stretch has many trees dropping their leaves. Preventing Pool Damage Due to Dry Weather

This has been a very interesting pool season. We started out with record rainfall in April & May, and now we are in the midst of an extremely dry period. August 18th is the 41st straight day of no precipitation, which is the third longest dry stretch since records have been kept (1898). Extremes such as this can cause problems as this area tends to have expansive soil—soil that expands when it gets wet and contracts when it gets dry. The Rain What an interesting (and wet) spring that we have had—it has been a record breaker! In April, we received much more rain than normal, but then the record-breaking May arrived. Now that the rain appears to be over for a while, let’s look back on it. In May, it rained 24 out of 30 days for a total of 16.96” of rain. It was the most rain that we have received in May since records have been kept—117 years (1898). In addition, it was the third wettest month since records have been kept, less than 1” from the wettest month. Thru May, we have received 31.63” of rain, which is 88% of our yearly average of 36.14”. School Is Out For the Summer!

Graduation time is here and this group of high school seniors will now prepares to enter the next chapter of their lives. Although I remember high school graduation and the mixed emotions that I had, I have nothing but great memories of the feeling of freedom that the last day of school would bring on an annual basis. There is nothing in adulthood that can compare with the feeling of freedom that kids experience when walking (or running!) out of school on the last day. Some consider summer beginning on Memorial Day weekend, while others believe that summer does not officially begin until summer solstice (Sunday, June 21st).  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Gohlke (Gary) replaced my pump with VSP Pentair. I then had them (Dale and crew) come replace the Mastic. Getting great service I had Eli give us a quote come back to replace the Tile, pool
Light and replaster. Bill was the project manager and couldn't ask for anyone better.  I was nervous about the project but after one visit he had my complete trust.
Everyone has been so professional and knowledgeable.  I love my pool.  Can't thank everyone enough.  Special thanks to Gary, Bill, Dale, Eli, all the pool cleaners Aaron, Miguel (a couple more).
Gohlke is now my goto for Pool Care.

Although my home is outside their service area and they were not able to come out to fix my pool’s built-in freeze protection system, Connor was incredibly helpful and generous with his time.

He took the time to review the pictures and information I provided, carefully assess the situation, and explain his diagnosis and possible solutions to me—all without charging me anything. He also went the extra mile by referring me to a company that is closer to my home and may be able to handle the repair.

I truly appreciate Connor’s professionalism, knowledge, kindness, and willingness to help even though he could not take on the job himself. His generosity and customer service really stood out to me. I was very skeptical if it would actually work in this Texas heat. I have zero shade trees. Decided to just do it and it’s amazing!! Our pool went from feeling like bath water to COLD! We run it at night and that’s it. Did not raise my electric bill like I thought either. Install was amazing. Customer service was and is amazing! If you’re on the fence, DO IT!

We buy all of our supplies from them! They are very friendly in the store. I've had a few issues with repairs they've done for me, like tile replacement. I wasn't really satisfied with it but they do always try to make it up in other ways.
They fixed this area about 3 years ago.  I didn't feel that the guy really knew what he was doing. It didn't really look good at all. I called and he came back to fix it but within a year it started coming off again. I don't think the right grout was used. The original pool has been on there for 30 years so I don't know why the repair wouldn't last longer than a year or 2.

They are courteous and attentive. They listen carefully to issues or questions we have and take time to give us informative responses.

Travis has repaired issues with the equipment and is very thorough and will the share information regarding the repairs.

The office staff is equally responsible and pleasant to communicate with regarding billing and any questions we may have.

He tried a couple of repairs but were unsuccessful. Korbin told me about spa removal and we made the decision that it was time for our hot tub to go.
A week later Korbin and some other techs arrived on time and the spa was removed in less than an hour. Everyone was helpful and courteous.
Korbin & the rest of the crew were very good representives of your company.  Thanks for a good experience.
