As I was enjoying the cool morning temperatures recently on the first day of fall (September 23rd), it brought back some thoughts about how brutally hot this record-breaking summer was and how glad that I am that it is finally over. I graduated from Denton High School in 1980, and I remember the heat of the summer of 1980 and I really did not believe that it would be broken in my lifetime. We always end the year with mixed emotions. We are happy that we get a chance to reflect back on 2016 and we have some great memories, a few successes, and also a few failures. In addition, it allows us to look at the goals that we set and see how we did. Overall, we are pleased with 2016, but we feel that the best is yet to come. With the lake levels continuing to decline and fires continuing to burn across the state, it is very important that we, as poolowners, are not wasting water by way of a leak.
