Although we had a few cold spells, it really hasn’t been a memorable winter like it was last winter (the deep freeze of February 2021). Now that we are into late March, it is unlikely that we will have another freeze (as the weather continues to warm up. For the record, our average last freeze is March 13th and our latest freeze on record is April 13th. What does this mean to pool owners? It means that now is the time to begin preparing your swimming pool for the summer. WOW—how about this awesome weather we are having right now! I cannot remember such great weather in August—very conducive to being outdoors. Pete Delkus of WFAA had some interesting things to report earlier this week: This summer, our rainfall total is 13.03”, which is 6.98” above normal. The long term forecast for the rest of August calls for lower than average temperatures. With that being said, the rains coupled with the high pool water temperatures can make keeping clear, sparkling water more challenging than normal. As a reminder, following are the steps to take immediately after the rain ends: Remove debris from the skimmer baskets, pool surface, & floor of pool.
