  • Keeping your Pool Swimmable

Get your winter clothes out!  What a sudden end of the swim season for most of us!  With the cold weather that we recently had, the average water temperature went from approximately 80 degrees to approximately 70 degrees in just a few days.  That is too cold for many of us to comfortably enjoy it, as most of us prefer pool water temperatures in the mid-to-high 80s.  With the first average freeze date for this area being fairly soon (November 22nd), pool water temperatures will definitely  continue to decrease. If you aren’t ready to give it up,you might want to consider getting a pool heater, which can stretch the swim season to 10 months per year, versus 5-6 months without a pool heater. Pool heaters…

  • Now What? How to Deal with The Super Bowl Week Freeze

It has been a very long time since it has been this cold for this many days.  I have heard the mid 1990’s and I have heard the late 1980’s, but regardless—it has been awhile. During weather like this, it is very important that either the pool equipment be drained or the equipment be operating to prevent damage.  If your pool equipment was not drained or the pump was not on—the water will freeze inside the plumbing, pump, filter, and heater. We all know that when water freezes, it expands, which is what causes the damage to plumbing, pumps, filters, and heaters. As far as any other freeze damage—to the pool structure or to underground plumbing—it will probably be minimal. The damage won’t be known…

  • Swimming Pools, Stagnant Water, & Mosquitos

Back in 2012, we were dealing with the West Nile encephalitis epidemic being spread by mosquitos. In 2016, the Zika virus (also spread by mosquitos) was in the news. Recently it was reported (Denton Record Chronicle on June 24, 2019) that a mosquito trap in Frisco tested positive for a West Nile mosquito. Regardless of the disease or the year, it is safe to say mosquitos can cause real problems and we all need to do our part to cut down on the mosquito population. Stagnant water sources (including swimming pools) definitely contribute to this problem. The Texas Department of State Health Services website states: “If there are any places around your home where water collects, you may be raising mosquitos.” A neglected swimming pool…

  • 6 Ways to Cool Your Pool Water

It took a bit longer before the really hot weather arrived, but it is now here! Traditionally one of the solutions to dealing with this heat is the cool enjoyment that a swimming pool can provide. That is not always possible this time of year—as pool water tends to heat up, oftentimes past the point of being refreshing. Most of those who enjoy swimming pools prefer water temperature in the range of 80-90 degrees, with temperatures below 80 and above 90 being considered uncomfortable. With the water temperature in many full-sun pools now reaching the low-90’s, pool owners are looking for ways to lower the temperature of the water. Following are some methods that have been used to lower the temperature of their pool water:…

Albert did a great job communicating throughout... from swinging by before repair to ensure correct sizing/equipment, through quoting, ordering, scheduling time and completing repair. Top notch, very professional and great experience. Thanks, Albert!

We recently hired Gohlke Pools to remodel our patio and add on an outdoor kitchen. An important feature of the kitchen was a large pizza oven I ordered that from delivery to installation added a lot of complexity to our project. Bill, our project manager, handled every challenge I threw at him with patience and grace. There was some minor damage to the oven during shipping and before they installed it Bill spent a week hunting down replacement tile to repair the damage so I’d never know the difference. The oven looks perfect! Every member of every crew they had at our house were very skilled professionals but I must give a special thanks to their stonemasons, Jesus and Osvaldo. The fireplace they created for us is gorgeous. We couldn’t be happier with our new patio and I can’t recommend Gohlke Pools enough.

Gohlke did a great job building us an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven and remodeling our large patio including resurfacing the concrete. Always on schedule, all over the worker were a class act. Bill supervising the job was a real pro and great to deal with. Placing a 3000 pound oven was a challenge and they made it look easy. Real attention to detail. This is a great company!

DFW Hot Tubs made the entire hot tub buying experience easy and enjoyable. Pablo was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind, guiding me through every step and helping my family choose the perfect spa for our needs. He provided clear education on care and maintenance, and his support has continued even after the purchase. I highly recommend DFW Hot Tubs and specifically Pablo for his professionalism and outstanding customer service!

WOW! Just WOW! We couldn’t be happier with our first pool! It’s a huge investment, and you want to feel confident and comfortable with your decision. From the first meet-and-greet to Matt and Connor checking in after completion, we are so thankful we chose Gohlke Pools. Communication gets 100 stars! We received regular email updates throughout the project with timelines and progress reports. Connor was extremely helpful with design ideas and changes, and Matt was always present—taking care of anything and everything promptly. Caden did a fantastic job with our “pool school” at the end. He was patient, answered every question, and genuinely wanted us to feel prepared. The entire process was smooth, and they even finished ahead of schedule. We were also impressed with each subcontractor—the quality of their work and the respect they had for our property were outstanding. Subias, the recommended landscaper, was wonderful to work with, and Javier Subias was incredibly helpful in planning our outdoor design. All in all, we were so impressed with Gohlke that we’ve decided to use them for our weekly service as well. THANK YOU, GOHLKE POOLS, for making our experience so positive!
