With the cold weather that we recently had, the average water temperature went from approximately 80 degrees to approximately 70 degrees in just a few days. That is too cold for many of us to comfortably enjoy it, as most of us prefer pool water temperatures in the mid-to-high 80s. With the first average freeze date for this area being fairly soon (November 22nd), pool water temperatures will definitely continue to decrease.

Pool heaters use one of two fuels—natural gas or propane, depending on what is available in your area. The basic principle of the pool heater is simple. A gas burner tray creates heat. The heat rises through the cabinet of the heater, raising the temperature of the water that is passing through the coils.
Vast improvements have been made to swimming pool heaters over the past several years, which allow them to be more efficient, cost-effective, and reliable. Another reason that contributes to an increase in pool heater sales is the fact that homeowners dislike spending $30,000 to $50,000 (or even more) on a swimming pool and then only be able to use it for six months out of the year.
