If you have ever viewed a Google satellite image of Denton or have flown over Denton in a small aircraft, two things are very noticeable:  there are quite a few swimming pools in Denton and there are many trees in most areas of Denton.  During pool season, these trees provide so much for the pool owner in the way of beautifying the pool environment, providing a cool spot near the pool, and providing shade for those that need sun protection. • End of Summer Near?

It seems like it has been a fairly mild summer overall, especially when compared to the last two summers.  In the summer of 2012—we had 34 days over 100 degrees, and in the summer of 2011—we had a record breaking 71 days over 100 degrees.  But we average only 18 days over 100, and we are currently at 25 days over 100 degrees—so it has actually been a fairly hot summer.  Here is what this summer compares to the average when looked at by the month:   Average 2013 May  0.2 days 0 days June 1.2 days 2 days July 6.0 days 6 days August 9.2 days 16 days September 1.0 day 1 day Although we are not sure that the 100 degree days are…
