Q: My pool cleaner won’t pick up all…
Q. My pool cleaner won’t pick up all of the leaves at the bottom of the pool, what can I do to fix this?
A. Your pool cleaner bag has a certain capacity. When the bag gets full, it will get too heavy to move around the pool. Most pool cleaner manufacturers make leaf bags for their cleaners which allow more leaf storage, but let some of the smaller debris pass through. These are a great option for this time of year. Cleaners can also have trouble picking up large groups of leaves. They try to pick them up all at once, which leads to clogging. If there is a large bunch of leaves or sticks in the pool, try picking up the majority by hand with your leaf rake and let the cleaner pick up the rest. If you are still having trouble, the cleaner may be in need of repair.
