A 2014 Christmas Message

ByMatt Gohlke December 19, 2014August 13, 2026 Gohlke Pools Blog Reading Time: 2 minutes

A few years ago at the Pool Expo I attended a seminar by Clay Nelson (www.claynelsonlifebalance.com) that had an impact on my priorities and my life. I now receive his email newsletters and feel like the following information is worth sharing as we enter Christmas week.

“As you sit down for a meal over the holidays, I’d like you to take on being really present to the people you are sitting at the table with. Think about it: What have you missed in previous years because all you can think about is the turkey not being moist enough…or the potatoes are lumpy…or your sister forgot to bring the whipped cream for the pumpkin pie…or the kids running amuck in the other room! The holidays are here for us to really be with those we love most. So don’t squander the time you have. Instead, savor each and every moment. Yes, take the good with the bad and live, laugh, and love! After all, isn’t that what the holidays are all about?”

It is my hope that each of you are able to spend some time with loved ones over the Christmas holidays. Merry Christmas from Gohlke Pools.

Time to Order a Mesh Pool Cover for Fall
ByMatt Gohlke August 28, 2023

Do you need a new mesh pool cover or an existing one remade? After placing your order, it can take several weeks before installation is possible. Now is the time to take the first step and have us come out and measure your pool. In the fall and winter seasons, falling tree foliage, wind-blown debris and sudden freezes are a part of life in North Texas. Pool covers are an important consideration for pool owners all over the region. We typically tell customers that if they have a leaf problem in the fall, a cover is probably the best option whether that is a simple leaf mesh net or an Anchor Mesh Safety Pool Cover. One reason these have become increasingly popular is they allow…

With the relatively cold weather that we are currently experiencing, it is a reminder that freezing weather will be here soon—and pool owners should be prepared. The average first freeze occurring in the DFW area on November 22nd. With many weather forecasters predicting a colder and wetter November than we usually have, it is almost certain that freezing temperatures will be here in a matter of weeks, if not days. As the freezing weather approaches, it is important that you know how to prevent freeze damage if your pool has not already been prepared for the freeze. Following are our recommendations on how to prevent freeze damage. Continue the regular weekly routine of testing the water, adding chemicals as necessary, cleaning out the baskets, etc….

Bell Ringers
ByMatt Gohlke December 12, 2012

Being part of the Denton community has been a real blessing for Gohlke Pools. Although we do our best to give back to the community throughout the year, there is something about the Christmas season that brings out the best in the staff of Gohlke Pools. Many years ago, we primarily focused our efforts on the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, which is buying gifts for young people who would not otherwise get gifts. This is a great cause, and many of our staff members still participate in this effort on an individual basis. But for the past few years, the staff of Gohlke Pools has participated as “bell ringers” for the Salvation Army kettle program. We will be bell ringing on Thursday, December 20th…

Do You Know Jack About CPR?
ByMatt Gohlke November 19, 2010August 14, 2026

You probably saw it on the news or read it in the newspaper. Jack Pittman-Heglund, a 12 year-old Keller Middle School student and lacrosse player, collapsed when he arrived home after school. Jack’s mom performed CPR and called 911. Jack was transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, where he spent five days in coma and is now doing well. Doctors told the family that an undiagnosed cardiac problem was to blame for the attack, and without his mom administering CPR he would not have survived. His family and the lacrosse team that he plays for have made it their mission to be sure the people learn CPR. They have promoted their cause by selling wristbands that read, “Do you know Jack about…

5 Stretching Exercises for Your Hot Tub
ByMatt Gohlke October 29, 2021

You may already be aware of the benefits of hydrotherapy in culmination with aquatic exercises. Since water helps improve flexibility and massaging jets helps relax muscles, an ideal time to stretch is while soaking in your spa. To help you get started with this part of your wellness journey, we’ve compiled a list of five quick stretches that can be done while in the hot tub. If you are unsure of performing stretches while in the hot tub, they, of course, can be done before or after you soak in the spa. Stretching in your hot tub–and even before or after–can help enhance movement, avoid new injuries, and assist in repairing an existing injury.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Gohlke (Gary) replaced my pump with VSP Pentair. I then had them (Dale and crew) come replace the Mastic. Getting great service I had Eli give us a quote come back to replace the Tile, pool
Light and replaster. Bill was the project manager and couldn't ask for anyone better. I was nervous about the project but after one visit he had my complete trust.
Everyone has been so professional and knowledgeable. I love my pool. Can't thank everyone enough. Special thanks to Gary, Bill, Dale, Eli, all the pool cleaners Aaron, Miguel (a couple more).
Gohlke is now my goto for Pool Care.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience speaking with Connor from Gohlke Pools. Although my home is outside their service area and they were not able to come out to fix my pool’s built-in freeze protection system, Connor was incredibly helpful and generous with his time.

He took the time to review the pictures and information I provided, carefully assess the situation, and explain his diagnosis and possible solutions to me—all without charging me anything. He also went the extra mile by referring me to a company that is closer to my home and may be able to handle the repair.

I truly appreciate Connor’s professionalism, knowledge, kindness, and willingness to help even though he could not take on the job himself. His generosity and customer service really stood out to me. I highly recommend Gohlke Pools, and especially appreciate the assistance I received from Connor!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I contacted these guys for a chiller to be installed for my Inground pool. I was very skeptical if it would actually work in this Texas heat. I have zero shade trees. Decided to just do it and it’s amazing!! Our pool went from feeling like bath water to COLD! We run it at night and that’s it. Did not raise my electric bill like I thought either. Install was amazing. Customer service was and is amazing! If you’re on the fence, DO IT!

We buy all of our supplies from them! They are very friendly in the store. I've had a few issues with repairs they've done for me, like tile replacement. I wasn't really satisfied with it but they do always try to make it up in other ways.
They fixed this area about 3 years ago. I didn't feel that the guy really knew what he was doing. It didn't really look good at all. I called and he came back to fix it but within a year it started coming off again. I don't think the right grout was used. The original pool has been on there for 30 years so I don't know why the repair wouldn't last longer than a year or 2.

Evan and Anthony from Gohlke Pools installed a device to regulate the pool's water level for our pool
(a fill-o-matic). In hot afternoon summer sun they both worked diligently to get it done.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have worked with several people at Gohlke. Evan, Daniel and Cody for pool maintenance and repairs. They are courteous and attentive. They listen carefully to issues or questions we have and take time to give us informative responses.

Travis has repaired issues with the equipment and is very thorough and will the share information regarding the repairs.

The office staff is equally responsible and pleasant to communicate with regarding billing and any questions we may have.

Gohlke is a good company to work with.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Korbin came and looked at our very old Thermospa. We decided that repairs would not be cost effective. He tried a couple of repairs but were unsuccessful. Korbin told me about spa removal and we made the decision that it was time for our hot tub to go.
A week later Korbin and some other techs arrived on time and the spa was removed in less than an hour. Everyone was helpful and courteous.
Korbin & the rest of the crew were very good representives of your company. Thanks for a good experience.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The team has been amazing in the entire pool process came up with a design I just love for my backyard. The selection process was not overwhelming. The construction team was there to make sure tasks were completed timely. They continue to help even after the build with questions. I continue to use them for the cleaning after the build. They know the pool and they are keeping it amazing each time I walk outside.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wes Gohlke did an excellent job guiding us through the design process. As first time pool owners, we relied heavily on Wes and his expertise. Wes worked hard to keep us within budget and he provided options that kept the price point where we needed to be. He did a great job trying to understand what we wanted and we’re very happy with final product. We can’t thank Wes, and the team at Gohlke Pools, enough for making our dream pool a reality.
