A Commitment From Gohlke Pools for 2015

We always end the year with mixed emotions. We are happy that we get a chance to reflect back on 2014 and we have some great memories, a few successes, and also a few failures. In addition, it allows us to look at goals that we have set and see how we did.

We do not know what the economy will be like in 2015 and we don’t think that anyone can predict with any certainty what will happen in this country or worldwide, but we do feel that Denton, Texas is a good place to be in good times or bad times. Regardless of what happens around us, we believe if we do the basics correctly that we will have a successful 2015 regardless of the economy.

For 2015, we pledge to do the following basics in order to continue to improve:

We will work harder.
We will work smarter.
We will get out of our comfort zone (we will push themselves to learn more and become more cross-trained).

We hope that your 2015 is everything that you want it to be. Happy New Year!

Swim thru November with a Pool Heater

After a very hot summer, the weather has been much cooler as of late. We have had some warm days followed by cool days and even cooler nights, which has resulted in lower pool water temperatures. With these cool nights, average pool water temperatures in the Denton area are dropping. We are seeing water temperatures in the mid 70’s right now, down from the low-to-mid 90’s that we experienced in late August. According to the National Oceanographic Data Center, 70-78 degrees is where most people feel most comfortable swimming. I am not sure who “most people” are, but from what I have observed, 70-78 degrees is a bit cold for most of us north Texans. Most of us seem to prefer between 80-84 degrees, but…

North Texas Winter Weather Information

Although winter does not officially begin until December 21st, the cold weather that we experienced in mid-November seemed to create some interest in the severity of the weather that we are going to have this winter in the north Texas area. While none of us really know what the weather will be, most of the forecasters (with a wide variety of supporting data) believe that it is going to be a colder winter than normal. As the weather continues to warm up and swimming pools are getting heavy use, it is time to talk pool safety. We can all agree that we want our swimming pools to be as safe as possible; not only to protect our children but also to protect the neighborhood children. Having layers of protection is the best way to ensure a safe swimming pool (outside of adult supervision). A swimming pool owner should consider using the following layers of protection: Fence – Fences are required around swimming pools within the City of Denton. The weather has been wonderful as of late—we have had our share of warm days, but it is starting to cool down considerably, as has pool water. We certainly do not know what the future holds as far as weather goes, but rest assured that 85-degree pool water is over for this year. Although we had a few cold spells, it really hasn’t been a memorable winter like it was last winter (the deep freeze of February 2021). We recently hired Gohlke Pools to remodel our patio and add on an outdoor kitchen. An important feature of the kitchen was a large pizza oven I ordered that from delivery to installation added a lot of complexity to our project. Bill, our project manager, handled every challenge I threw at him with patience and grace. There was some minor damage to the oven during shipping and before they installed it Bill spent a week hunting down replacement tile to repair the damage so I’d never know the difference. The oven looks perfect! Every member of every crew they had at our house were very skilled professionals but I must give a special thanks to their stonemasons, Jesus and Osvaldo. The fireplace they created for us is gorgeous. We couldn’t be happier with our new patio and I can’t recommend Gohlke Pools enough.

Gohlke did a great job building us an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven and remodeling our large patio including resurfacing the concrete. Always on schedule, all over the worker were a class act. Bill supervising the job was a real pro and great to deal with. Placing a 3000 pound oven was a challenge and they made it look easy. Real attention to detail. This is a great company!
