What a Great Summer We Have Had!

It has been a great summer! Pete Delkus of WFAA—Channel 8 recently reported that we had the coolest summer that we have had in a decade and the lowest number of 100 degree days from June thru August—which is listed below:

We average number of 100 degree days in DFW is 18, and our record is 71 (2011).

Here is what this summer compares to the average when looked at by the month:

Looking at the long range forecast, we are likely finished with 100 degree days and we know for a fact that cooler temperatures are on the way. What a great summer we have had!

Freezing Warning This Week – Be Prepared

We are expecting the first freeze of the season toward the end of this week—and pool owners should be prepared, as it appears that it will be a hard freeze, with temperatures forecast to get as low as 20 degrees. The average first freeze occurring in the DFW area is November 22nd, so it appears that it will happen about two weeks behind schedule this year. How to Determine if a Pool is Leaking

With the lake levels continuing to decline and fires continuing to burn across the state, it is very important that we, as poolowners, are not wasting water by way of a leak. Therefore, now would be a great time to determine if your pool is leaking. Depending on the atmospheric conditions, swimming pools will lose up to ½” of water per 24 hour period through evaporation. Most of the time it will be less than this but it should never be more (assuming there is no splash out or backwashing of the filter). End of Summer Near?

It seems like it has been a fairly mild summer overall, especially when compared to the last two summers. In the summer of 2012—we had 34 days over 100 degrees, and in the summer of 2011—we had a record breaking 71 days over 100 degrees. But we average only 18 days over 100, and we are currently at 25 days over 100 degrees—so it has actually been a fairly hot summer. Now What? How to Deal with The Super Bowl Week Freeze

It has been a very long time since it has been this cold for this many days. I have heard the mid 1990’s and I have heard the late 1980’s, but regardless—it has been awhile. During weather like this, it is very important that either the pool equipment be drained or the equipment be operating to prevent damage. If your pool equipment was not drained or the pump was not on—the water will freeze inside the plumbing, pump, filter, and heater. We all know that when water freezes, it expands, which is what causes the damage to plumbing, pumps, filters, and heaters.  Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Gohlke (Gary) replaced my pump with VSP Pentair. I then had them (Dale and crew) come replace the Mastic. Getting great service I had Eli give us a quote come back to replace the Tile, pool
Light and replaster. Bill was the project manager and couldn't ask for anyone better.  I was nervous about the project but after one visit he had my complete trust.
Everyone has been so professional and knowledgeable.  I love my pool.  Can't thank everyone enough.  Special thanks to Gary, Bill, Dale, Eli, all the pool cleaners Aaron, Miguel (a couple more).
Gohlke is now my goto for Pool Care.

Although my home is outside their service area and they were not able to come out to fix my pool’s built-in freeze protection system, Connor was incredibly helpful and generous with his time.

He took the time to review the pictures and information I provided, carefully assess the situation, and explain his diagnosis and possible solutions to me—all without charging me anything. He also went the extra mile by referring me to a company that is closer to my home and may be able to handle the repair.

I truly appreciate Connor’s professionalism, knowledge, kindness, and willingness to help even though he could not take on the job himself. His generosity and customer service really stood out to me. I was very skeptical if it would actually work in this Texas heat. I have zero shade trees. Decided to just do it and it’s amazing!! Our pool went from feeling like bath water to COLD! We run it at night and that’s it. Did not raise my electric bill like I thought either. Install was amazing. Customer service was and is amazing! If you’re on the fence, DO IT!

We buy all of our supplies from them! They are very friendly in the store. I've had a few issues with repairs they've done for me, like tile replacement. I wasn't really satisfied with it but they do always try to make it up in other ways.
They fixed this area about 3 years ago.  I didn't feel that the guy really knew what he was doing. It didn't really look good at all. I called and he came back to fix it but within a year it started coming off again. I don't think the right grout was used. The original pool has been on there for 30 years so I don't know why the repair wouldn't last longer than a year or 2.

Evan and Anthony from Gohlke Pools installed a device  to regulate the pool's water level for our pool
(a fill-o-matic). In hot afternoon summer sun they both worked diligently to get it done.

They are courteous and attentive. They listen carefully to issues or questions we have and take time to give us informative responses.

Travis has repaired issues with the equipment and is very thorough and will the share information regarding the repairs.

The office staff is equally responsible and pleasant to communicate with regarding billing and any questions we may have.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Korbin came and looked at our very old Thermospa. We decided that repairs would not be cost effective. He tried a couple of repairs but were unsuccessful. Korbin told me about spa removal and we made the decision that it was time for our hot tub to go.
A week later Korbin and some other techs arrived on time and the spa was removed in less than an hour. Everyone was helpful and courteous.
Korbin & the rest of the crew were very good representives of your company.  Thanks for a good experience.
