We have had a very mild summer thus far. As of this writing (August 12th), we have only had three days in which it reached 100 degrees, and we typically have had 10-15 by now on our way to our average of 20 days at or above 100 degrees. Cleaning Your Filter

In order for pools to remain clean and clear, they must be both biologically clean and physically clean. Biologically clean water is water that is free from harmful bacteria. Biologically clean water is achieved by maintaining proper water chemistry. Physically clean water is water that is free of particulate matter (particles and contaminants in the water that make it cloudy). Physically clean water is achieved by good filtration. Both biologically clean water and physically clean water is very important, but sometimes the importance of physically clean water and how to achieve it is overlooked. Dealing with Damages from Power Outages and the Hard Freeze

Due to the widespread power outages and record low temperatures, we are seeing a lot of pool equipment damage. Please be careful with icy ground conditions and check on your pool equipment as soon as you are able. The condition of it will fit into one of the following categories. Please review them and use the subsequent action plan: Everything is running as normal If the pool pump is still working and you do not notice any leaks, you may still may have a couple of action items. Keep an eye on the water level and refill as needed as water supplies become available and delivery methods thaw. An important feature of the kitchen was a large pizza oven I ordered that from delivery to installation added a lot of complexity to our project.  Bill, our project manager, handled every challenge I threw at him with patience and grace.  There was some minor damage to the oven during shipping and before they installed it Bill spent a week hunting down replacement tile to repair the damage so I’d never know the difference.  The oven looks perfect!  Every member of every crew they had at our house were very skilled professionals but I must give a special thanks to their stonemasons, Jesus and Osvaldo.  The fireplace they created for us is gorgeous.  We couldn’t be happier with our new patio and I can’t recommend Gohlke Pools enough.
